Weekend Recap: House Guests

This weekend was definitely one of a kind and we had a full house. We hosted our first overnight guest comprising of five people. Yes, five people plus the two of us adding up to seven people in a 1 bedroom house. Well the place is pretty large for a 1 bedroom. Our friends came to visit with their two kids and grandma. It was fun having everyone around and having children in the house. Lol....now that I think about it, it was definitely a fun experience. I must say wifely duties are really kicking in hard and being an host is not an easy thing. But, I do love the learning experience and my hosting manners will only get better. Don't get me wrong, I do have good hosting manners and I believe I'm a very good host. I just think there are some things I could have done better to make them feel extra extra extra comfortable because I would love for them to visit  and not just visit but sleep over again.

The whole weekend started off kind of hectic. Went furniture and electronics shopping with hubby on Friday night/Saturday morning and after all the set up, building and lifting of the furniture's, I was exhausted. My Saturday continued with a long cooking spree before our guests arrived. The worst thing that can happen when you have guests over is not having enough food. So, I made sure there was enough. Good thing because by the time they arrived they were all hungry and exhausted from the long drive, so I started them off with some chilled fruit mix. For dinner the girls had Jollof rice with chicken and plantains and the guys had pounded yam with vegetable soup. On Saturday morning, I made my infamous blue berry pancake served with smoked sausage and a side of the fruit mix. For snacking in between meals, we had chocolate chip banana bread. I think it's safe to say no one was hungry while they were at our house.

Later on Sunday evening after they left, hubby and I settled down with a movie. We rented Real Steel from Vudu and we enjoyed the movie. I was supposed to make some home made pop corn for the viewing but guess what? I was way too tired for that. So we munched on the left over fruit mix while watching the movie and pretty much called it a night after that.

Hope you all had a great day.
